Paying homage to the city that never sleeps, “& Why…” a cafe at Bali Lane has a New York Deli concept which is well executed in all aspects. Brought to you by the folks behind “I am…”, this cafe is named after the abbreviation of New York.
From the vintage interior design to the menu and the waiters’ uniform, “& Why...” exudes a vibe that is reminiscent of a scene from the quintessential American novel, The Great Gatsby. The grey bricked walls, dark-wood furnishings, black-rimmed antique lamps, vintage collectables, and classic Jazz and Blues pop-tunes playing in the background bring out the charm of NYC in the 1920s.
The founder drew inspiration from the delicatessens of New York when setting up & why…. Modest yet trendy, “& Why…” serves up a real dose of grilled delicacies, with signatures including the sought after Salted Egg Calamari, selection of mouth-watering Brunch dishes to the grilled mains specialities ranging from various steak & lamb cuts, accompanied with a variety of sauces that will suit your palette.
Café hoppers and coffee connoisseurs will be thrilled to be treated to the three brewing methods of coffee available at “& Why…” – V60, Chemex and Cold Brew. There are three types of in-house roasted beans for selection: Panama Boquete SHB, Sumatra Mandheling Gayo, and Guatemala Puerta Verde. There’s always room in the stomach to pair one’s favourite coffee with the ever-popular Sticky Dates Pudding or the beautifully-crafted masterpiece, Orchid Panna Cotta.
The fusion of food, fashion, art and drinks has assured the permanence of “& Why…” in this eternally cool Singaporean district.
